Tear Down the Fences

This is our final message in the series, "Good Neighbour Church". Surprisingly, Jesus tells us to live out the gospel by choosing to be like our Father in our neighbourhoods. This means that when we meet enemies in our 'hood', we must choose how we will respond. Jesus said startling things about living large in our city. Love your enemies, go the extra mile, serve them. But how? What does it mean in practical terms to live out our love when there is risk and threat, and others who will take advantage of us? God the Holy Spirit will lead us into his plan for our city if we ask, follow and try. In today's message, pastor Dave will lead us to consider how we can tear down our fences and live openly in our communities.

Bonus Video

Quite often we react to strangers with suspicion and fear. Sadly, this world gives us many reasons to do this. Yet our experience with God is quite the opposite. Although we start out as strangers, in Christ we are welcomed into God’s family. As we recognize how we have been included, we will be inspired to welcome others.

Many of us were first introduced to the effect and power of sacrifice through our Mothers. Many women chose to forgo sleep to care for their infants, to release their own dreams to give their children a chance at life. Women within their cultures and contexts are often deserted, betrayed, and defrauded into a life that devastates, yet it is women who nurture the next generation through their sacrifice. Today as we celebrate and honour Mothers, we will learn how they picture the power of influence by giving us a picture of grace.

Faith full Friends

May 5, 2013
Dr Kent Anderson

Audio  / Questions / Leaders

Today, we welcome our special guests from Northwest Baptist Seminary. Dr. Kent Anderson is the President and Dean of Northwest, and he will speak on the theme, “Faith Sees Further”. The sermon is a call to see our friends with the eyes of faith to think of people not so much as to what they present to us, but to see them from the perspective of what Jesus can make of them. Faith sees further than what is presented to us on the surface
