Real Danger Real Hope - Jan 27, 2008 AMDavid Dawson

ometimes it is uncomfortable for us to reflect on the real spiritual dangers and consequences of rejecting Christ. We are happy to reflect on the wonderful hope we have in Christ, but we gloss over concepts like death and condemnation. It is important for us all, however, to reflect on the real dangers so that we will be motivated to be rescued and then join in the rescue of others. That will be our focus this morning. Audio
Train Yourself to be Godly - Jan 27, 2008 PMDavid Dawson
We assume that church activity is equivalent to spiritual training and in many ways this should be true. On the other hand, we should not assume that just because we are busy, we are growing spiritually. These verses in 1 Timothy call us to train for godliness and tonight we want to explore exactly what it means to do this.Audio
Growing Up Together - Jan 20, 2008 AMDave Marttunen
Fitting in is both simple and complex. It’s simple because all that is required is room, place, or opportunity. It is complex because fitting in is more about perception than it is about action. We can be busy with people, but not feel connected. Paul deals with the issue of fit on the basis of how God works in the lives of people to give them significance, and belonging based on grace and truth at work in their lives. All of us, no matter our social, ethnic, financial or other background or status positions, are equally important in Christ. Paul calls the Church to give attention to all of its pieces which are added with purpose by God so that we can do what He has designed us to accomplish. For community to work effectively we are to recognize our value and the value of others as we choose to work interdependently together.

Community is a Choice - Jan 13, 2008 AMDave Marttunen
Every family repeatedly faces the challenge of staying together. It's just easier to let it unravel, to not care, to not work on relationships. The biggest reason that families drift is because the people within them stop working at community. There is a direct parallel to our Church. If we are going to be a community it will entail hard work on our part. The challenges that work against community are rooted in the people who need and want to be part. And that includes all of us. The reality is that it is just easier to stop growing, stop trying, stop being a neighbour, and start living for yourself. It's just easier that way. However, the call to be a community is an echo of God's own nature inside of us. He made us for community. He intended for us to live socially. The requirement for community is rooted in blessing us; love, grace and freedom can only be experienced and developed in group. Today's life_SHIFT is to choose community. Audio

Grace, Truth and Time - Jan 6, 2008 AMDave Marttunen
Today Pastor Marttunen begins a new series on life change as a follower of Christ. Everyone starts out hungry in life. Like newly adopted children who have survived on the streets of a slum, we have old patterns to break and new patterns to form. Discipleship is not a rigid formula but a progressive development. This new series titled ‘SHIFT-life’ will help all of us to continue to grow up in Christ so that we can participate in God's mission to our city.
