Community is a Choice - Jan 13, 2008 AM
Dave Marttunen
Every family repeatedly faces the challenge of staying together. It's just easier to let it unravel, to not care, to not work on relationships. The biggest reason that families drift is because the people within them stop working at community. There is a direct parallel to our Church. If we are going to be a community it will entail hard work on our part. The challenges that work against community are rooted in the people who need and want to be part. And that includes all of us. The reality is that it is just easier to stop growing, stop trying, stop being a neighbour, and start living for yourself. It's just easier that way. However, the call to be a community is an echo of God's own nature inside of us. He made us for community. He intended for us to live socially. The requirement for community is rooted in blessing us; love, grace and freedom can only be experienced and developed in group. Today's life_SHIFT is to choose community.
