Salvation's History #6

Audio
As God revealed himself to the people of Israel in the Old Testament, he used many things to govern his relationship with them. He guided them with the law and established the sacrificial system to teach them about the need for atonement for sin. Another practical way in which God governed his relationship with the people was through the king. God made a covenant with king David, promising him that his lineage would always sit on the throne. God promised to use the king to lead his people into obedience and to protect them from their enemies. Once again this Old Testament institution was imperfect and the kings failed to live up to their role. Once again we look to Christ who is the perfect fulfillment of this Old Testament institution. Jesus Christ is the perfect king, who rules forever, who is victorious over God's enemies and who leads us to God.
