Elijah, like John the Baptist, was untamed. Higher on his identity list, above his role as a prophet who boldly spoke for God and a person who willing  suffered the results of his prayers, was this: he spoke to God, and God spoke to Him. He was simply a man who chased after God. Like Elijah we live in a non-believing culture. Our city is known for many good things, but seeking and serving God is not high on the list. Knowing our cultural realities, and the alignments of our city, the question for us is simple. Who will we choose to serve it? In this four part series, Pastor Dave Marttunen will lead us into the man’s life as a template for serving God in our city. Today’s focus is to start where Elijah began—on his knees. Heaven waits for God’s family to pray.
