November 30, 2008 PMDavid DawsonHaving focused on the importance of love and obedience in the past several chapters, John now pays attention to the power of faith. If we are tempted to think that being loving and being good is enough to please God and transcend this world of sin, John corrects this error. Tonight, we consider how our faith in Christ gives us victory to overcome the world.Audio
November 30, 2008 AMDr Larry PerkinsThis morning, we welcome Dr. Larry Perkins, who will be speaking on “The Nine to Five Window - Taking Jesus to
Work.” Jesus calls us to be missional in our occupational work. By missional I mean, acting intentionally as kingdom agents in our occupational and other work settings. The 9 to 5 work context is the missional window where God sets many of us. We are there like subversive agents bringing Kingdom values into an alien environment. How we do this will be diverse, require tremendous creativity, call for significant courage, and demand from us the commitment to suffer for Jesus’ sake, if need be. Remember Jesus’ words to His disciples, “as you go, disciple others.” So where we go, including our occupational setting, the Great Commission defines our way of living.Audio / Questions
November 23, 2008 PMDavid Dawson How can we discern the voice of God when we are surrounded by so many mixed messages. Each of us as believers must take the challenge to test the messages we hear to confirm that they are of God. John gives us some practical instructions to enhance our discernment.

Sometimes we have a wrong view of God's character, exaggerating his justice or his mercy for example. John teaches us that a true picture of God's essence is that God is love. Love is not just one character point in God, it is the core of who he is, influencing all that he does. This morning we will be challenged to better appreciate God's love so that we can make his love complete in our love for others.Audio / Questions

In sports as in life everyone has learned the line: “No pain, no gain.” It’s a life principle. Not only do you reap what you sow, if you fail to sow, you never harvest. Today from Colossians, Pastor David Marttunen will challenge us to count and pay the cost of investing in God’s dream for our world.

The power of imagination has changed the world as we know it. Dreams, visions, hopes and possibilities have fueled change for the better in our generations. Imagination has put a man on the moon, explored the depths of the sea, formed nations and reformed racial discrimination. Martin Luther King’s great cry, “I have a dream,” was realized in Obama’s election. God fuels our imagination when He tells us about His Son, Jesus Christ. God’s vision is bigger and better than anything we could dream for ourselves, and Colossians chapter 1 describes it.

1 John 3:1-10. Just as we resemble our earthly parents, there is a family resemblance within the family of God. As we approach the communion table tonight, we are encouraged to celebrate the lavish love of God who has adopted us into his family and we are challenged to purify ourselves knowing that righteousness is our family resemblance.

Christ in Focus # 3 Belonging to God settles the greatest human needs. The remedy to feeling unimportant, unloved or insecure is found in belonging to God. Life wears down our value, reduces our security and questions our lovable quotient. God speaks to our hearts and awakens in us our purpose as we accept all He has done to claim us.
